Where Heroes Are Within Reach.
Issy’s Journey Through Women’s Rugby"
Over the years of playing and following rugby, one of the most exciting and heartwarming experiences has been watching Issy meet her heroes. The women’s game offers a fantastic environment for young girls to connect with people they respect and admire. It’s a space where role models are not just on the field but also approachable and willing to inspire the next generation.
Issy has been incredibly fortunate to cross paths with some of the best players in the world. She’s been coached by legends like Eddie Jones and Dave Alred, whose expertise has left a lasting impact on her development. She’s also had the privilege of meeting incredible players such as Ellie Kildunne, Emily Scarratt, Sarah Hunter, Mo Hunt, Sarah Bern, and many others. These interactions aren’t just fleeting moments; they’re opportunities to learn, to grow, and to be inspired by the dedication and passion these players bring to the game.
One of the things I love most about the women’s game is its accessibility. It reminds me of the men’s game before it turned professional when players were more connected to the grassroots and had a genuine willingness to share their time and knowledge without being managed so much. This openness has been pivotal for Issy and other young girls who look up to these athletes. The friendliness and generosity of these players create a ripple effect, inspiring girls to embody those same qualities both on and off the field.
At just 15 years old, I can already see these attributes blossoming in Issy. She’s not only growing as a player but also as a leader, showing a passion for the sport that extends beyond herself. Over the years, she has had the honour of being an ambassador for several influential groups, including @RugbyBricks, @GirlsRugbyClub, @TheRugbyTrainer, and @SchoolofKicking. These opportunities have provided her with tools, skills, and mentorship that have allowed her to push her limits and play to her full potential.
Watching Issy’s journey unfold has been nothing short of inspiring. The game has given her so much, from unforgettable experiences to valuable lessons, and it’s clear she’s carrying those forward with grace and determination. The future of women’s rugby is bright, and with players like Issy and so many others in her generation, it’s in very good hands.
